600

49. That's how many at bats it took from the time he hit number 599 until today, when Alex Rodriguez smashed his 600th career home run. Those 49 at bats are a record. With a guy like A-Rod, there are plenty of things to poke fun at, criticize and shake our heads at. Sure he slept with Madonna, sure he creates as much controversy as Rush Limbaugh would at the Apollo theatre, but today is his day. While there is a good chance he hit a large portion of those home runs by injecting a needle into his ass, still, it's pretty good. Kudos to A-Rod for sticking it out, and joining an elite class of sluggers today. Number 600 came off of Shaun Marcum exactly three years to the day when he hit number 500. My friend DJ Jeff says this his one of his favourite sports moments. While I don't join him in his excitement I understand this is a big day for Yankees fans and players. I promise that my next story will not center on the New York Yankees.
