Yankees legendary owner, George Steinbrenner died early this morning. At 80 years old he had been owner of the Yanks for 37 years, and helped build a franchise that would win 7 world series and 11 AL pennants during his reign. While I was never a fan of the Yankees or Steinbrenner I certainly felt he helped bring about a competiveness that was nearly lost in professional sports, and I can respect that. It is only fitting that in his final full season alive, the Yankees won their 27th world series.
