UNCG Golf

First of all, what a crappy national championship game last week. I know its been a week, but I still feel cheated. Neither team should have won. In my book both Butler and Uconn automatically lose 5 games at the start of next season for forcing us all to watch such futile basketball. Any way, among other things, we discussed at length just how bad this game was on the show this week. More importantly we were joined by guests for the first time in a while. Personally I was glad to return to doing the show this way as it is always fun talking to our guests. This week it was senior golfer Erica Creed and her coach, Emily Marron, who joined us. After ribbing me for pronouncing Charl Schwartzel's (the recent winner of the masters) first name wrong, both Erica and Coach Marron gave some insight into the life of a student athlete. They also served as panel experts for a showdown between Matt and me, as Ryan created a quiz on golf etiquette. Sadly Matt won and for the second time this year I was beaten on my own show (see http://thesportscycle.blogspot.com/2010/11/ashley-schnell-renaissance-woman.html.) Anyway Erica and her teammates are about to head down to Hilton Head for the Southern Conference tournament this weekend, and as we all know, we were a springboard of good fortune for the Women's soccer team (ok maybe they were just awesome.) Regardless, best of luck to the ladies as they travel to Hilton Head. You can track their success here http://www.uncgspartans.com/sports/wgolf/index. One last order of business, and one I may live to regret. We made a promise on the show that if enough people responded to our facebook post we would rent cricket equipment and videotape ourselves playing. Within an hour this quota was met, so we're going to do it. I don't know where or when, as life is about to suck with exams and all, but it's going to happen. Look for the video at some point I guess. -SB
