Question: Who is the best second baseman in the national leauge? If you answered Chase Utley you are wrong. Louis Castillio?............Wrong again. I'd like to introduce you to Martin Prado of the Atlanta Braves. Prado took over the starting job at second base last season when Atlanta's usual starter, Kelly Johnson, went down with a wrist injury. Since then Prado has gone one to be one of the most menacing hitters in all of baseball. This season he leads the majors with 110 hits, 3 ahead of Yankees 2nd baseman Robinson Cano. Okay, so Utley has 11 home runs compared to Prado's 7. But he only has 4 more RBI's (37 to 33) and Prado has a much higher BA. at .334 compared to Utley's .277. Even more surprisngly, Prado has a beastly .483 slugging percentage, which is 17 points higher than the powerful Chase Utley (.466). Why am I telling you all of this? Because its almost time for the All-Star game dammit! And if justice exists Martin Prado will be the starter for the National League. With Utley's recent injury that is actually looking like a distinct possibility. The All-Star game should be based on who is having a better season, not who has had a better career. By the way, if you're still a skeptic, Prado has a perfect 1.000 fielding %, and Utey is lagging behind with a .973 fielding % (10 errors), so there.
